Coral Mearl and Aquamarine Bracelet
This stunning bracelet is solid sterling silver and the indivual pices are cast from real pieces of Mearl found on an Orkney beach.Mearl is a ‘coralline’ algae. It deposits lime in its cell walls as it grows, creating a hard, brittle skeleton. Maerl beds are a priority marine feature in Scotland’s seas. Western Scotland’s famous white Coral beaches are made not of coral but of fragments of dead maerl, crushed by the waves and bleached by the sun. Length is 20 cm but can be altered slightly to suit. Hallmarked in Edinburgh.
